What's new in DroidFX.

The first public release is on its way. Until then, here's what has been added recently.

Feature What it does
Setup wizard and “+ Add a light” A first-run wizard for the name, passwords and WiFi, the radio (controls found by moving them), sound, servos, lights and a first button, then checks on the real droid. + Add a light is the same form, applied straight away. Getting started
Shape changes without a restart A NeoPixel light is rebuilt live when its shape, pixel count, chip, type or pin is saved. NeoPixel shapes
Web UI password An optional login for the whole web page. System
Press buttons from the web page Button Pad’s buttons press like the transmitter’s, and Bench mode works with the transmitter off. Button Pad
Startup actions Lights and sequences that run once the radio connects after power-on. Startup
Scrolling text Text on a panel in six modes and two fonts (standard and Aurebesh), and live messages. Scrolling text
Radio knobs Light brightness and Effect speed knobs on the transmitter. Droid Config
45 buttons from the ETHOS pad Three pages of 15, picked by the widget’s page channel, with labels and colours from the exported pad file. The ETHOS widget
Timed sequences Sound, lights and servo moves on one timeline. Sequences
Track catalog Every track’s file name and length from one silent scan, with your own labels. Droid Config
Idle and Display mode Idle lights, moves and chatter, and a Display mode for a droid on show with the transmitter off. Startup, Idle & Display mode

Not scheduled, but worth keeping:

  • Check online for updates: look for a newer release and offer to install it.
  • Battery monitoring: a low-battery warning and a voltage readout (needs a small hardware addition).
  • Custom pixel frames: paint a NeoPixel animation pixel by pixel, frame by frame.
  • LED groups: treat several plain lights as the rows of one panel, so effects sweep across them.
